DEVIL'S PEAK
Explore historical monuments, while enjoying wonderful views.
Starting from Lei Yue Mun Plaza on Lei Yue Mun Road, turn right at the roundabout onto Ko Chiu Road, before turning right immediately after the road leading into Lei Yue Mun Estate. Here, the first climb starts, as the road leads upwards. Take your time, as this walk is quite pleasent, with a few pavillions on the way for resting, and also some great views looking out to Lei Yue Mun.

Watch out fo the Wilson Trail signs, as you would have to turn left at the top of the hill and walk across the road to start today's journey. A few stairs and you could turn left and continue up the slope.

With adequate shelter from the sun, the relaxing walk continues gently upwards, passing by some amazing views of the Eastern Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. Not long after, you could follow the signs and turn right to have a look at the Devil's Peak Battery, an UNESCO Grade II Historical Monument. Take a look around, and you might find this historical treasure more than interesting. You could walk down to the underground tunnels, or explore around the passages and clearings used for different purposes. Looking out towards Victoria Harbour, his battery had stood here for 100 years, and was used for preventing pirates from stopping here. Of course, the view is not bad too.

After you are finished, you could head back onto Wilson Trail. Right at the intersection, you could take a detour up to the peak of Devil's Peak for some more historical monuments by turning left at the intersection immediately after the intersection of the battery. It would take some time, and the stairs leading up to the peak are exposed, so it could be quite tiring, especially if it's a hot day. But you could savour some spectacular views along the stairway, as the views open up on both sides! You could see 360 degrees and look out to both Tseng Kwan O and Kowloon. Up to the peak, you would find that you could turn left or right. Both are fine, as they lead you to a loop around the peak. This position is used for observation and is extremely important in those days. Now, it is open to the public as a mini 'maze', as you work your way between the high walls.

Heading back towards the Wilson Trail, you could finally continue after being routed 2 times (hoped you enjoyed the routs!) and continue straight from the main road. Here, just watch out for the Wilson Trail signs on the ground and continue on the trail, passing by multiple distance posts. Here, the road flattens out, and you could enjoy the walk. Unfortunately, the views aren't great, especially when the trees are covering up both sides, and when they do open up, it opens up to a cemetery. But don't worry, there are much better views later on! But for now, enjoy the walk, as the easy part won't last long!

Once you descend from Devil's Peak, you would soon arrive at O King Road. Here you could turn left to exit to Sau Mau Ping or right to Tiu Keng Leng. But if you are on to the challenge to continue on (you won't regret it!), turn right onto the road and cross the road when you see a path on the other side of the road to enter the path ascending from the road!
