TOWARDS BIG WAVE BAY
Enjoy a peaceful walk in the forests, refreshing your mind.
This is the last segment of the trail! But we're not even close to Big Wave Bay! Once, you turn away from the ridge (Continuing on the ridge means passing by a warning sign warning about treacherous path ahead), you would find yourself decreasing rapidly in elevation, as you pick your way through the rocks and stairs.

There's still about 6 km to go, and if the sun is already setting, it might be the time to hurry up, as now, the trail winds through the forests of the hills of Wan Cham Shan and Mount Collison. As you pass by the first intersection after the warning sign, you should turn right, and then now, the trail is mostly flat. By the way, beware of bicycles! This is part of a bicycle track! :)

The track itself has many rocks jutting out from the ground, and the ground is poorly maintained, so this part may take a while. However, you would soon turn into a pavement, and shortly arrive at Tai Tam Gap, and here most people choose to turn left, following the sign, to exit the trail. But turning right, you would turn into a wide road, where you could slow down and relax (or some people, speed up and run), as you follow the road to Pottinger Gap.
Sooner than you expect, Pottinger Gap would be right in front of you, a grassy field and a small picnic site. Here, you should turn right, or some people may turn left and descend to Chai Wan through a graveyard. But if you choose to continue, after you turn right, you should follow the signs to turn right again, down a steep staircase. But the staircase is short, and you would now walk along the path leading to Big Wave Bay.

The path is very similar to the one after the view compass. In the forest, and not too narrow nor wide. However, the ground is uneven, with a lot of rocks to trip you over, so running is not recommended. But you would be relieved to hear that you are now walking the final 1.5 km of the whole Hong Kong Trail of 50 kilometres!

Relaxing and thoroughly enjoying nature surrounding you, you would exit the country park and then walk into the Big Wave Bay Village. But before you do, don't forget the H100 distance post! The final distance post of the Hong Kong Trail!

After you're finished with the distance post, continue straight into the village and then walk straight past a car park up a slope that would soon take you to the finishing line of Hong Kong Trail.

After taking a few photos to celebrate the end of Hong Kong Trail, take your celebration into Big Wave Bay Village, where a beach just might be great for a relaxing evening.
